Blogs, Podcasts, and Vidcasts
This was an excellent session for anyone thinking about or planning to develop these mediums for their business, clients, or as a personal vehicle. The panelists (Diego Naranjo/MiamiAdGuy.com, Jesus Hoyos/crmenlatinamerica.com, Blogs, Julio Vaca/EveryZing.com) and moderator (Jay Berkowitz, Ten Golden Rules) actually covered all of those users and found a way to avoid repeating the words of the panelists before them.
Jay Berkowitz did a wonderful job of warming everyone up with solid intro covering the basics and pushing the value of these mediums. Thank you for preparing a handout for us to follow along and take notes. From there we jumped into Diego Naranjo's "10 commandments" of blogging, which pointed to the importance being yourself and being honest with your audience "tell them what you think, not what you want them to know," and the list also does the audience a true service by pointing out that creating and maintaining a blog requires work and consistency.
Next up was Jesus Hoyos' "CRM 2.0" presentation which focused on incorporating all of these media into your CRM program; an excellent way to keep your customers informed and involved with your brand. The key to this approach is allowing the customers to interact and be a part of the discussion. This will also provide you with a wonderful data source for brand/product development, marketing, and more. (Very much a part of the concepts touted by Brad Pick in the Viral and Word of Mouth Marketing workshop.)
Last but not least was Julio Vaca's more in-depth how to presentation which focused on building your blog correctly the first time. There were some fascinating concepts and explanations offered for budding bloggers from all areas. With real advice on how to use your blog, podcast and vidcast as resources of traffic from the search engines.
This is one of few cases where I really must recommend that you go to www.ad-tech.com/miami/presentations to view the panelists slides, and if you have time, then download the podcast at www.ad-tech.com/podcasts.
